     An evening to sooth the soul & excite the senses. A slide & music light show by Philip Donahue, based on his experience working light shows in the late 60s - featuring Philip's original paintings on optical glass projected large -  spiritual meditations on California landscapes - brought to life as vibrant images in intense colors & detailed textures, set to music.

     1353 Grant, San Francisco North Beach, in the "Original Coffee Gallery," formerly the "Lost & Found," an old beat & hippie hangout, which has been renamed in memory of its original "beat" name, "Coffee Gallery."
     A slide & music show by Oakland artists, painter Philip Donahue and musician Jayde.   Featuring 48 of Philip's original miniature paintings on optical glass projected large on Jayde & a backdrop.  These paintings are based on Philip's experience in light shows in the late 60s - brought to life as vibrant images in intense colors & detailed textures, set to Jayde's music.

     Learn about the expressive qualities of colors, lines, shapes.  Philip Donahue will lead a workshop that will look at Pollock's artwork & Abstract Expressionism, then everyone will create an action painting.  Discussions of the creative process & works created in class will help inspire, enlighten & motivate.

"Taking The Leap 2001"

     The 2001 Introduction Exhibition for artists in the "Taking The Leap" program,  a professional practices school for artists.  Out of 665 prospective artists only 55 were accepted this year, resulting in an exceptional group of artists.  The show includes paintings, drawings, photographs, mixed media, and sculpture.   This year, the reception, Sunday, January 21, 2001 from 2 to 5 pm. drew between 2,000 & 2,500 people.  The artworks are in 2 buildings.  Philip Donahue's artworks are in Area # 1, in the Heritage Square Building, Emeryville.
